How to Keep Job for Employee with Kidney Disease or Dialysis

As an employee with kidney disease, you can face two choices: work first? or health first? Actually, I understand that most people think that health and job both are important for them. Well then, how do you keep your job when you learn that you have kidney disease or need to start dialysis? You have rights to do the following things:

Make time to see your doctor.

No matter how busy you are, you should have to make time to see your doctor and do some tests for monitoring progression of kidney damage. In the case, you can take timely remedies so as to prevent further kidney damage effectively.

A temporary leave when you start dialysis.

People with chronic kidney disease maybe able to take advantage of FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) which is covered employers to grant eligible employees 12 weeks of unpaid time off within a 12-month period for certain reasons.

Change job position that you can do when you have renal disease.

Knowing what you can and cannot do at your job is the first step to continue working. People with kidney disease may experience tiredness or weakness, and may consider the type of job they perform. You can talk to your manager or supervisor about what you can do. Should you work fewer hours or maybe work on different days?
